I’m Linda, a Freelance Copywriter and PR based in York.

I’ve always loved writing.

And from the moment I saw my first article published in the student newspaper at university, I was hooked.

I’m an NCTJ-qualified journalist.

After gaining my NCTJ Diploma in Newspaper Journalism at Cardiff University, I got a job as a reporter for The Argus in Brighton, a busy daily regional newspaper covering Sussex - and with three editions a day. I reported on everything from people getting mugged by seagulls for their tuna sandwiches to crown court trials, sea swimming for travel features, and celebrity interviews.

Next, I went to work in national newspaper newsrooms in London, first covering news shifts at The Daily Express and Sunday Express, and then three years as a staff feature writer at the Daily Star.

Since then, I’ve had freelance articles published in The Guardian, Daily Telegraph, MailOnline, Countryfile, Mother & Baby, and Woman magazine, among many others.

I’ve worked for – and with – many major PR agencies around the UK, securing stand out press coverage for businesses and entrepreneurs.

I’m also experienced in internal comms, working as an editor and writer for an IC agency in York for six years with clients such as Drax Group, City of York Council, Joseph Rowntree Foundation, York St John University and the House of Commons.

I now use this experience to:

• Help businesses connect with their ideal audience through freelance copywriting - creating blog posts, articles, features and case studies.

Work with small businesses to get their stories into the press. (Check out my DIY PR course designed especially for small business owners).

“Linda is a fantastic writer…

She has produced a couple of long print magazine features for me about employee engagement, each involving multiple interviews. Both nailed the brief and were written in a clear and engaging tone. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Linda for any editorial.

I’m passionate about neuroinclusion.

I love producing copy and content to raise awareness around autism and neurodiversity, including blogs, social media, articles and case studies.

This includes:

• Thought leadership articles and guidance for internal comms teams on neuroinclusive language.

• Interviews for magazine features.

I have a personal interest in this area as a parent. I’m qualified in IPSEA’s Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND) Law - Level 1, and I’m completing my training to be a volunteer on IPSEA’s parent and carer legal advice helpline.

I’m actively involved with local Yorkshire charity Autism Angels, including helping with PR for their fundraising activities.

From money and health to celebs and cats, I’ve written about pretty much everything as a journalist…
